Workshop Waste ?

Running a workshop (albeit a small one)  and producing wooden products does create a small element of waste. But what do we do with it ?

When we plane, sand or cut the wood dust and chippings are collected into bags via the extraction systems we have got in the workshop. When these become full instead of  putting them into general waste bins we actually use them as bedding for our horses ! Sounds crazy I know, but they are really absorbent and mean it doesn’t go to waste. Also the horses must feel pretty special having oak and sycamore shavings.

With the bigger offcuts that I can’t make things from we make them into morning sticks and use them to start our log burner to heat our house.

All other waste we cannot burn or use as bedding goes into a commercial bin and disposed correctly.
